The NYPD spokesperson said that Saleh’s apartment covered the whole floor, and that an elevator exits directly into his apartment. The Daily News reported that he bought the apartment last year for $2.25 million.
The Daily News said surveillance-camera footage taken Monday appeared to show Saleh entering the elevator followed by a man in a suit with a hat and gloves and a mask over his face. On leaving the elevator, Saleh fell to the ground, the paper said.
Saleh was originally from Saudi Arabia and born to Bangladeshi parents, according to a blog profile. He cofounded Adventure Capital, which invests mostly in the developing world, the Daily News reported.
Friends, who were not named, described him to the paper as a self-made millionaire who was “extremely smart, ambitious, very kind.”
Gokada, where he was CEO, posted a tweet saying: “We are deeply saddened to inform you about the sudden and tragic loss of our founder and CEO, Fahim Saleh. Fahim was a great leader, inspiration and positive light for all of us.”
