Red Sox vs. Astros score: Live updates from ALCS Game 6 as Houston tries to clinch World Series berth – CBS sports.com

The Houston Astros are set to host the Boston Red Sox for Game 6 of the 2021 American League Championship Series. The series has been a dramatic one to this point, with incredibly high highs and low lows for each team. The Astros hold a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

How we got here was a roundabout way. The Astros took Game 1, the Red Sox crushed the Astros in Games 2 and 3 and were six outs away from taking a 3-1 lead. The Astros tied Game 4 in the eighth inning and then scored seven runs in the top of the ninth to even the series. Then in Game 5, the Astros had a blowout of their own.

Luis Garcia takes the mound for the Astros. He’s had two bad starts so far this postseason, including in Game 2 of this series when he coughed up five runs in 2 2/3 innings before being removed with a knee injury. He had a 3.30 ERA in the regular season, during which he had one start against the Red Sox and allowed just one run in seven innings. Nathan Eovaldi is the Red Sox starter. He was the Red Sox ace this season, posting a career-best 4.6 WAR. He was very good in his Game 2 start but then had a bit of a meltdown in the ninth inning of Game 4.

The action is scheduled to begin at 8:08 p.m. ET. Here’s how you can watch.
